Webflow Website Detector

Effective date: February 14, 2025

Overview

The Webflow Website Detector is a free Chrome extension created by BRIX Templates. It determines whether the site you are viewing is built with Webflow by scanning for Webflow-hosted assets, data attributes, and runtime globals.

All detection happens locally in your browser. The extension does not transmit, store, or sell any data—it simply evaluates the current DOM and updates the toolbar icon with a detected or not detected result.

Data Collection & Sharing

  • No personal data collected. We do not gather names, emails, analytics, or any identifiers.
  • No network requests. Every detection check happens locally; nothing is sent to BRIX Templates or any third party.
  • No storage. Detection results live only in memory while the tab is open. Closing the tab clears the cache automatically.
  • No sharing or selling. Because no user data is collected, nothing can be shared or sold.

Permissions Explained

We request only the permissions needed to perform Webflow detection:

  • activeTab – lets the popup run a scan on the tab you are viewing.
  • tabs – allows the background worker to react to tab changes and keep results current.
  • scripting – required by Manifest V3 to inject the packaged detector script into the page.
  • clipboardWrite – reserved for future "copy evidence" features (unused unless triggered by you).
  • Host permission (`<all_urls>`) – enables audits on any site. The detector only reads the DOM and never sends data elsewhere.

Third-Party Services

The extension does not rely on third-party APIs or analytics. All code ships with the extension and runs inside Chrome.
