Overview
The Framer Website Detector is a free Chrome extension created by BRIX Templates. It determines whether the page you are viewing is built with Framer by scanning for Framer-hosted assets, hydration attributes, and generator metadata.
All analysis happens locally on your device. The extension does not transmit, store, or sell any data—it simply evaluates the current DOM and updates the toolbar icon with a detected or not detected result.
Data Collection & Sharing
- No personal data collected. We do not gather names, emails, analytics, or any identifiers.
- No network requests. The extension performs all checks within Chrome and never contacts BRIX Templates or any third party.
- No storage. Detection results live only in memory while the tab is open; closing the tab clears the cache.
- No sharing or selling. Because no user data is collected, nothing can be shared or sold.
Permissions Explained
The extension requests the following Chrome permissions solely to perform the Framer detection:
- activeTab – lets the popup run a scan on the tab you are viewing.
- tabs – allows the background worker to react to tab updates and keep the toolbar icon current.
- scripting – required by Manifest V3 to inject the packaged detector into each eligible tab.
- clipboardWrite – reserved for future "copy evidence" actions (unused unless you trigger it).
- Host permission (`<all_urls>`) – enables audits on any site; the detector only reads the DOM locally.
Third-Party Services
The extension does not rely on external APIs or analytics. All code ships inside the extension bundle and runs solely within Chrome.
